When you open the door of Gallery Aura in Kojonup you walk into a colourful art hub with a history to match.
During the second world war this building was a tea-room that hosted dances for soldiers. It sold cool drinks, lollies and icecream and at the rear was a bakery and the town powerhouse. More recently it housed Kojonup Agricultural Supplies. Two years ago local artist Jill Capper renovated the old building transforming it into Gallery Aura, a vibrant art space displaying art works created by leading Western Australian artists, eclectic wares, antiques, plus a studio space for working artists. With its pressed tinned ceilings and 100 year old jarrah floor boards this gallery is original, stylish, quirky, full of character and friendly faces.
