Last Sunday an Australian Record was set around Lake Towerrinning in Moodiarrup at Birdy’s Backyard Ultra, held by Ultra Series WA and hosted by Lakeside Camping!
Ultrarunner Phil Gore completed a record 51 laps. (342km). The backyard ultra is a gruelling format where runners complete a 6.71km loop on the hour every hour until it is last one standing. The course circumnavigated Lake Towerrinning and included a gravel road, paddocks, a swamp, and a bridge.
Birdy’s Backyard Ultra is held annually in August
Phil has been invited to the world championships at Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra in rural Tennessee in October.
