Amid devastating bush fire conditions in the south west came a fast and ferocious storm. At 5.30pm yesterday we received a 5 minute storm that brought 14mm of rain, hail the size of marbles and wild winds that flattened tents and beach shelters. Some skiers we caught out on the water as the storm arrived with very little warning except for an ominous sky. A few of us were stranded under a small beach shelter hiding whimpering children under towels and chairs. Then it disappeared as swiftly as it arrived. The wind ceased and the sun came out. A thick smoke haze now lingers and are thoughts are with all those affected by these horrific bushfires.
