13 weeks is all it took for a tiny rural town to turn the idea of an annual show into reality. It has been 60 years since Darkan had it’s last agricultural show so a small group of West Arthur community decided to put a back to basics country show back on the calendar. Sheepfest was born. For a gold coin donation visitors could enjoy sports shearing competition, wool fashion show, merino ewe competition, sheepdog demonstration, market stalls, food vendors, giant waterslide, free kids activities and a live band at the end of the day. With the spirit of this community, Sheepfest will be back next year without a doubt.
